Rugby
Town were razor-sharp in front of goal, collecting three
impressive points with three goals against a well-organised
TeamBath side.
The
University students, as usual, played some good football
on a bobbly pitch which they share with their hosts
Bath City.
Billy
Jeffrey named an unchanged side with Craig Herbert and
Willis Francis still unavailable.
Rugby
took the lead on half time as Tim Wooding's corner was
flicked on by Delroy Gordon and Kevin Slinn ran
onto the ball and slotted the ball home.
Eight
minutes after the break, Rugby were two ahead as Wooding's
corner found Robbie Beard whose shot was blocked on
the line and found its way out to Delroy Gordon,
who turned the ball home from eight yards.
Valley
all but sealed three points minutes later, as David
Stone worked the ball well down the left hand side and
cut the ball back to Matt Green who netted his
first goal for the club with a rasping 25-yards drive,
low into the net.
The
hosts had a flurry of chances with their big two target
men up front but could not convert from their many headed
chances.
However,
they did get what turned out to be a consolation goal
with 5 minutes remaining, Jaukovic finally converting
a header inside the six yard box.
