Rugby
Town have confirmed that influential
trio Jason Taylor, Delroy Gordon and
David Stone have committed to the
club for the 07/08 season.
All
three players have decided to stay
with Billy Jeffrey at Butlin Road.
Jason
Taylor enjoyed a successful
first season with Rugby having been
released by Rushden & Diamonds
in June 2006. The tall striker notched
24 goals to claim the Golden Boot
and also scooped the Supporters' Player
of Year and Manager's Player of Year.
Fellow
strike-partner David Stone
has also committed to Valley for another
season.
The
flamboyant forward joined the club
from Daventry Town in 2005 and has
scored 27 league goals in his two
seasons with Rugby.
Central
defender Delroy Gordon
completes the trio as Billy looks
to build up a squad for the 07/08
season.
Delroy
followed Billy to Rugby from Stamford
in June 2005 and immediately impressed
with his performances which earned
him Player of the Season accolades
in his first season. More Star Man
awards followed last season at his
convential centre-half role.
Biily
Jeffrey was pleased to have
secured the signatures of three of
his key players: "It's good to
have secured the services of Delroy,
David and Jason for next season.
"Delroy
is a big player for us and I feel
he can only improve in the future
while we all know that David is capable
of scoring goals and winning games
out of nothing.
"Jason
had a great first season with us and
he turned down a big offer from Stamford
to stay.
"We
have fantastic facilities, a great
stadium and superb support for our
playing squad and I'll be working
hard in the coming weeks to tie down
some more of last season's squad and
also search out some more targets."
