Billy Jeffrey's Rugby Town side travel to Eastwood Town looking to build on a promising start to pre-season.

Date Saturday 28th July 2007
Kick-off 3pm
Venue Corontaion Park, Eastwood, NG16 3HB
Comp Pre-Season Friendly
Craig Herbert is the sole survivor from the starting eleven that were defeated by Eastwood in the FA Cup in 2003

Valley remain unbeaten in their first three outings of the season including a 3-2 win against a Luton XI and draws against Bedworth and Hinckley.

With Billy starting to finalise his squad for the new BGB Premier Division season, which starts at Clevedon on 18th Augsut, his signings will be looking to forge an understanding while the remaining trialists will be looking to impress.

Last season's 24-goal top scorer Jason Taylor is hoping to play some part in the fixture following a knee problem while it is not known whether club captain Craig Herbert will make his first appearance of pre-season after missing the games so far due to family reasons.

Billy could have one or two new faces for the game while 19-year-old trialist Stuart Sinclair could feature again. Sinclair started on the right side of midfield for Rugby against Hinckley on Tuesday. The former Luton Town trainee spent last season with Blue Square South side Cambridge City where he made 20 appearances.

The Eastwood game should also see the return of ex-Kettering full-back Stefan Morley who Billy hopes to sign in the next week. Goalkeeper Alex Bacherini, an ex-Notts County trainee, will be hoping to make an appearance.

Saturday's opponents, Eastwood, have just had arguably their most successful season in the club's 54 year history by gaining promotion to the UniBond Premier Division for the first time.

Valley have only ever faced Eastwood once before in any competition. Back in 2003, the Badgers - then of the North East Counties League, travelled to Butlin Road for an FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round and surprised their hosts with a 3-1 win.

Rugby Town Squad From: Faz Afandiyev, Alex Bacherini, Brad Harris, Andy Commander, Craig Herbert, Delroy Gordon, Stefan Morley, Stefan McGrath, Joel Young, Mark Edge, Willis Francis, Tom Breward, Stuart Sinclair, Scott Musgrove, Fabien Smith, Robert Gondwe, David Kolodynski, David Stone, Jason Taylor, Akin Aladetoun, Tristan Kabongo.
