Rugby
travel to Wellingborough Town's Dog
& Duck Stadium as preparations
for the new BGB Premier Division season
continue.
Wellingborough
ply their trade in the UCL Premier
Division - two leagues below Valley.
The
Doughboys were re-formed recently,
and were immediately promoted to the
Premier division of their league for
2006-07.
Manager
Nick Ashby then bolstered his squad
at the start of last season, bringing
in a number of experienced players
- including four of Rugby's 2005-06
squad Kevin Slinn, Matt Green, Tim
Wooding and Andy Peaks.
Slinn
and Peaks moved on before the end
of the season though, as Wellingborough
failed to build on a good start to
the campaign - finishing third in
the table and as a result were not
offered the chance to step up into
the regional divisions of the Southern
League.
Ashby
again has gone for experience with
his close-season signings this time
round, with two more ex-Valley players
Rob Gould and Scott Goodwin arriving
at the club.
Rugby
manager Billy Jeffrey has been hit
with injury worries as Andy Commander
was forced off during the first half
against Eastwood with a wrist injury
while Jason Taylor hobbled off with
a knee problem in the same game.
Billy
will be hoping that new signing Scott
Musgrove is available after missing
the Eastwood defeat. Captain Craig
Herbert is still unlikely to feature
meaning a central defensive headache
for Rugby.
