Rugby
manager Billy Jeffrey already has
an injury headache before the new
BGB Premier Division season has begun.
Both
Andy Commander and Jason Taylor came
off during the 3-0 defeat to Eastwood
last Saturday.
Central
defender Commander was forced off
after only 20 minutes with a suspected
broken hand, which could require surgery.
This
would mean there would be a race to
be fit for the start of the season
at Clevedon on August 18th.
Commander's
injury has left Rugby currently with
only one recognised central defender
with Craig Herbert having missed all
of the pre-season games so far due
to family reasons.
Meanwhile,
Jason Taylor, who was making his first
pre-season appearance against Eastwood,
hobbled off only minutes after coming
off the bench with a recurrence of
the knee injury he picked up at the
tail-end of last season.
Taylor,
who netted 24 goals for Valley last
season, twisted his knee in April
during the 1-0 win over King's Lynn
at Butlin Road but after working tirelessly
with new physio Paul Lloyd, this new
setback will mean the tall striker
will need a scan and specialist treatment
and is likely to miss the start of
the season.
Several
other players have niggling injuries
including new signings Stefan Morley
and Scott Musgrove who have muscular
injuries but both players will hope
to return against Nuneaton on Saturday.
