Valley
host Blue Square Northern side Nuneaton
Borough for what is becoming a regular
pre-season fixture.
Rugby
have faced Nuneaton every season since
2004 and Boro have come out on top
in each of the three meetings with
a particularly comfortable 6-0
win coming last
July.
That
result appeared to be a precursor
for Nuneaton's promotion challenge
to return to Conference football,
but instead they had a poor start
and manager Roger Ashby was soon dismissed
and replaced by assistant Kevin Wilkin.
Boro
improved under Wilkin into 2007 and
after finishing in mid-table, they
are again set to mount an assault
on the Blue Square Northern this season.
Rugby's
side is set to include ex-Boro midfielder
David Staff who agreed to join Valley
last week along with Matt Gearing
and Aaron Stringfellow.
With
manager Billy Jeffrey on holiday,
reserve manager Mark Fenemore and
youth manager Chris Wells will oversee
proceedings.
Jason
Taylor (knee) and Andy Commander (hand)
will be unavailable while Stefan Morley
(shin) and Scott Musgrove (achilles)
will have late fitness tests on Saturday
afternoon.
Trialists
Alex Bacherini, Fabien Smith and Tristan
Kabongo will be hoping to make an
impression as the new season draws
closer.
