Rugby manager Billy Jeffrey believes
that the Valley supporters have played
a big part in the last two home wins
against King's Lynn and Bedford Town.
Billy
especially thanked the contribution
of the home supporters at Tuesday
night's game against Bedford.
He said: "It's great to see some
new faces in the crowd helping to
create a good atmosphere.
"The
hard core die-hards have been fantastic
at my time at the club, but we desperately
need new fans on-board if we are going
to continue to advance.
"The
players and I really appreciate it
when they get behind us like they
did against Bedford, and hopefully
they will be regulars this season
and have plenty more to cheer about."
Despite the fact that Valley are yet
to play a home fixture on a Saturday
afternoon this season, the crowds
at Butlin Road have been fairly encouraging
nevertheless. The opening match at
Butlin Road against Brackley drew
an attendance of 291, followed up
by 395 for the visit of King's Lynn
on Bank Holiday Monday and then 282
for the Bedford game.
The
average attendance last season at
Butlin Road was 255 which means gates
have been up 26% so far this season. |
