Valley duo Andy Commander and Jason
Taylor have both suffered setbacks
in their bid to regain fitness.
Last
season's top scorer Taylor was first
injured in the 1-0 win over King's
Lynn in April 2007 after after breaking
down during the pre-season friendly
at Eastwood, having appeared as a
substitute, the striker will now require
surgery on his knee injury
There
is believed to be significant cartilage
damage and if replacement cartilage
is required, then Jason could be ruled
out for the season.
If
the situation can be resolved through
repair, then Taylor could return within
two or three months of surgery.
Fortunately,
it appears that last season's 24-goal
forward has not suffered any substantial
ligament damage.
Meanwhile,
centre back Andy Commander has had
to be re-admitted to hospital after
his broken hand did not heal as expected.
The
28-year-old defender sustained the
injury in the friendly at Eastwood
Town in July and had to have plates
inserted due to the extent of the
injury. But rehabilitation has not
gone as planned which could rule Andy
out for another number of weeks.
Commander
has made 129 appearances for Valley,
scoring 4 goals since joining from
Shepshed Dynamo in 2002.
