Aaron Stringfellow was presented with
the Call-a-Car Player of the Month
Award for August before last Saturday's
2-2 draw with Tiverton Town.
Aaron
has had an excellent start and has
been arguably Valley's best performer
on a consistent basis.
Stringfellow's
heroics began in the third game of
the season against Hemel Hempstead,
when the defender donned the goalkeeping
gloves following injury to Alessandro
Barcherini.
Aaron
pulled off a string of fine saves
which also included a penalty save,
but could not save Rugby from a 3-1
defeat.
That
performance earned the 19-year-old
Star Man honours, a feat he repeated
in the 1-0 win over King's Lynn where
Stringfellow scored his first ever
goal for Rugby with a late penalty
to secure victory.
Aaron
can now boast the rare achievement
of saving and scoring a penalty in
successive games.
Stringfellow
joined Rugby from Coventry City in
August 2006 and made 39 league appearances
for Valley last season and he has
been ever present so far this season.
Aaron
also won the Player of the Month for
August last season.
