Saturday's
trip down the M5 will be their fourth
such journey already this season -
with two more still to come to Yate
and Tiverton. There could have easily
been another on the cards on Tuesday
night, after Town almost battled back
to force a replay after an early two
goal setback in the F.A.Trophy against
Clevedon.
In
the end, the Seasiders sealed the
tie on the hour mark, and David Stone's
seventh of the season just before
half-time was in vain, with the visitors
earning an away trip to Hemel Hempstead
in the next round as reward.
Reflecting
back on the defeat, Town boss Billy
Jeffrey said : "The bottom line
is that we can't afford to give away
goals like we did, and expect to win.
It's disappointing, because it's another
cup we have failed in this season.
We will have to make amends by keeping
up our good run in the league this
coming weekend at Mangotsfield."
This
weekend's opponents have also qualified
for the next stage of the competition,
following up on last Saturday's goalless
draw at home to Fleet with a 2-0 away
victory on Tuesday night, thanks to
goals from top scorer Luke Ballinger
and midfielder Ronnie Mowatt, a recent
signing from Taunton.
Frank
Gregan's side have had a steady start
to their league campaign, and are
currently 11th in the BGBLP. They
appear to be emerging as one of the
division's draw specialists this season,
with five in total, and four from
their six games already at Cossham
Street.
Mangos
edged a tight encounter there between
the two sides last season with a single
second half Jack Allward strike sealing
the points. The 2005-06 game saw Valley
put in one of their best performances
under Jeffrey though, with goals from
Stone, Delroy Gordon and Chris Tullin
earning a 3-1 victory.
Jeffrey
knows that he will need a performance
of similar quality to take something
from Saturday's match. He said : "They
are definitely one of the more experienced
sides in the division and it will
be tough game. They appear to have
kept most of last season's squad together
and strengthened as well in the summer."
Mangotsfield
started well last time round, but
their form dipped mid-season and they
eventually finished in 9th place -
eleven points off the play offs -
with their Achilles heel again being
the number of home games drawn (eleven
in total).
Jeffrey's
main injury worry ahead of the weekend
is Ashley Blake, who was helped from
the pitch during the Clevedon defeat
with a knee injury, although Jeffrey
is hopeful that the midfielder may
recover in time for this Saturday's
trip.
Jeffrey
also confirmed that he is looking
to boost his squad, and assistant
manager Kenny Mist missed the Clevedon
game to check out one of his main
targets.
There is a club coach travelling to
Mangotsfield this weekend, and this
will leave the clubhouse at 10.45
a.m. For further details, please contact
