After Rugby's goal-less draw against
Mangotsfield at Cossham Street on
Saturday, manager Billy Jeffrey was
pleased to see his side continuing
to pick up points on the road.
Billy
is happy with his players' work rates,
especially in tough conditions on
Saturday:
"It
was another battling effort from the
lads away from home.
"We
are working hard for each other at
the moment, and we more than held
our own against physically strong
and much more experienced opposition."
Rugby
started both halves well against the
Mangoes and David Stone had a couple
of chances to score but couldn't find
his scoring boots on the day:
"It
would have been nice to have got the
victory though, and we had a dominant
spell at the beginning of the second
half when we could have killed the
game off.
"Perhaps
we are missing that extra something
at the moment, but it's difficult
to be too critical as we continue
to pick up points and climb the table."
Rugby
have now lost just once from their
last eleven league games and have
not lost away in the BGB Premier since
the defeat to Hemel in August.
But
Billy knows that his side will have
to continue to work hard as the winter
arrives and conditions change:
"It
wasn't the greatest game of football
ever seen, but the pitch certainly
didn't help on that front. I suppose
ground surfaces start to change around
this time of year, so it is something
we will have to get used to."
