Tuesday night's defeat against Chippenham came on the back of similar reversals against Clevedon and Cirencester, in stark contrast to their recent unbeaten away record - which was stretched to seven matches after last weekend's 1-1 draw at Bedford.

Valley boss Billy Jeffrey accepts that his side have failed to deliver the goods at Butlin Road recently. He said: "It's just not clicking at home at the moment. We're working hard and getting rewards from our away matches, but we've struggled to do the same back here - especially as we have raised expectation levels with our league position."

He continued: "The fixture list hasn't been too kind to us so far, and it's been difficult to get the necessary continuity - but that's no excuse, and we need to address the situation this Saturday."

Bashley will provide stern opposition for Billy's young side though, having started their first season back in the Premier Division well with just one defeat from their eleven matches to-date.

They were promoted with ease from the BGBL South & West regional division at the end of last season, cruising to the title with 102 points - 28 more than their nearest rivals - and scoring an incredible 111 goals in the process.

Striker Richard Gillespie was their chief destroyer with 35 Southern League competition goals in 2006-07, and with five more already this season, he will definitely be one-to-watch this Saturday.

Billy knows that this weekend's opponents will be tough.

He said : "They have adjusted well after their promotion, which is not surprising as a lot of their team have played at a higher level. They had a reasonable run in the F.A.Cup and they are still in the Trophy, so they will be a force to be reckoned with."

The omens are good for the Valley though, having won the last three games between the two sides - the most recent in February 2002 when two goals a-piece from Chris Freestone and Robbie Beard saw off the Bash at Butlin Road.

Jeffrey will have injury doubts about midfield pair Tom Breward and Ashley Blake for the weekend's game.

Breward missed the second half of the Chippenham defeat with a calf strain, and his replacement on the night Blake then limped off with an ankle injury.
