Victories against Mangotsfield United
and Banbury United in the last two
outings have lifted Valley to 15th
in the table but Rugby are still just
three points above the drop zone making
another win vital.
With
Cheshunt already condemned to relegation
and Cirencester seemingly doomed,
Merthyr Tydfil in 14th place down
to Mangotsfield in 20th place are
all involved in a battle to avoid
the final two relegation spots.
Easter
Monday's win against Banbury represented
the first back-to-back wins for Rugby
since September when Valley recorded
three straight wins against King's
Lynn, Gloucester and Bedford.
However,
the task for Rugby today will not
be easy against a Clevedon side who
were at one point play-off contenders.
The
Seasiders had risen to 5th in the
table before having a 2008 to forget
so far. Up until last Monday, Clevedon
had managed just one win in fifteen
since the turn of the year although
this run included an incredible eleven
draws!
There
was the possibility they could be
sucked into the relegation battle
until Monday's 2-1 win over Mangotsfield
United.
With
so many draws recently, people could
be forgiven for predicting the result
to be all square this afternoon, especially
given that five of the seven meetings
at Butlin Road between the sides have
finished as draws.
Rugby's
head to head record against Clevedon
is pretty dreadful with no wins at
Butlin Road and just two wins out
of fourteen overall. The Seasiders
have won their last four meetings
against Rugby, including one FA Trophy
tie earlier this season, scoring three
goals each time.
News
from the dressing room is that Rod
should have a full squad to choose
from apart from Akin Aladetoun
who will be missing through injury
after returning from his loan at Bedworth.
David Staff and Scott
Musgrove are both fit and
available for selection but striker
Avun Jephcott is
unlikely to feature due to not yet
gaining International Clearance following
his spell in Ireland.
