Bromsgrove
parted company with Rod back in November
and the irony is that Rovers have
been condemned to Midland Division
football while Rugby confirmed their
BGB status with the 1-1 draw at Brackley
last weekend.
This
afternoon's meeting will be the first
time Rod pits his wits against his
former club.
The
result today is academic with both
side's future for next season already
sealed, but the Valley fans who made
the trip to Brackley last week will
want to be rewarded with a last day
performance to round off the season.
Indeed,
Rugby fans will be keen for Town to
go some way to overturn the reverse
fixture against Rovers in December,
where Valley put in one of the worst
away performances in recent history
to go down 4-0.
In
fact, Rugby's last meeting with Bromsgrove
also ended in heavy defeat - a 5-1
defeat four and a half years ago back
in the SL Western Division.
Valley's
final day record in recent reason
is certainly not unenviable but this
has not been helped by six consecutive
away games on the last game.
Valley
boss Rod could use the game to give
a chance to some of his fringe players.
Striker Avun Jephcott
has finally gained International Clearance
and could be included in the squad
while long-term absentee Andy
Commander may feature.
