Dobson
has signed thirteen players on so
far and is still looking for one or
two new faces in addition to the trialists
training with the club currently.
Last
season's Player of the Season Stephan
Morley has backtracked on
a move to UniBond Premier side King's
Lynn and instead has opted to remain
with Rugby.
The
22-year old put in some excellent
displays last season attracting the
attention of several clubs but the
ex-Kettering & Corby defender
signed on last night for Valley after
training.
Dobson has also added two new faces
to the squad including central midfielder
Ben Twigger.
Twigger,
25, was Bedworth United's captain
for the majority of last season before
joining promotion-chasing Atherstone
Town for the last few games to help
their play-off cause.
The
diminuitive midfielder started his
career with Hinckley United before
moving on to Bedworth, AFC Telford
and Rushall Olympic before returning
to the Greenbacks.
Also
joining Valley this season is youthful
winger Allondo Davis
from Evesham United. Davis made a
big impact when he signed for the
Robins during the 2007/8 season from
Midland Combination side Continental
Star although a knee injury restricted
his impact in the Zamaretto Premier
last season.
In
addition to the contract players Andy
Stevens, Delroy Gordon and David Kolodynski,
Dobson has retained the majority of
last season's squad with club captain
Craig Herbert, Tom
Breward, Matt Gearing,
Steve Purton, Marcel
Simpson and Neil
Melvin all signing.
Meanwhile,
striker Dave Pearson
is on holiday and winger David
Staff is to see a specialist
concerning a knee injury picked up
at the tail end of last season.
Several
other trialists including ex-Worcester
City and Hinckley United striker Leon
Kelly and Rugby-born former
Crewe Alexandra academy forward Josh
Thompson have trained with
the club this week with Dobson expected
to run the rule over them in the coming
weeks.
Ex-Valley
youth team Player of the Season Sean
Castleton, 18, has also signed
and will try and make the step up
from the youth set-up. The young centre
back impressed last season for the
reserves and has appeared on the bench
for the first team without making
an appearance as yet.
Also
rejoining the club is striker Matt
Wells who left the club in
2006. Matt, who progressed through
the club's youth system, scored one
goal in nine appearances for Valley
in 2005/6 under Billy Jeffrey.
Midfielder
Scott Musgrove has
not been retained.
