With
the last competitive league meeting
over 22 years ago, fans of Valley
& Brakes have had a long wait
to see their teams match up on the
field.
Leamington
reformed in 2000 and have since ascended
the leagues in rapid fashion starting
from Midland Combination League Division
2 (playing in the same league as Rugby's
reserve side).
Last
season they ran away with the Zamaretto
Midland Division gaining automatic
promotion.
Brakes
have made a promising start to the
season with two wins and two draws
from their opening five games back
at Southern League Premier level.
There
is no doubt that Rugby would like
to be coming into the game in better
form having collected just a single
point from their opening five games
but current form can often be an irrelevant
factor for derby games.
Defender-turned-midfielder
Marcel Simpson is expected to continue
in the middle of the park after an
encouraging display against Tiverton.
Meanwhile,
goalkeeper Andy Stevens is still a
major doubt with an arm ligament injury
meaning Dan Bell will continue to
deputise between the sticks. Midfielder
Neil Melvin could also return to contention
following a hamstring strain.
Valley
squad from: Andy Stevens,
Dan Bell; Liam Nicell, Harry Donaghey,
Craig Herbert, Delroy Gordon, Sean
Castleton; Marcel Simpson, Shawn Richards,
Matt Gearing, Allando Davis, David
Staff, Ben Twigger, Steve Purton,
Neil Melvin; Josh Thompson, Jason
Ramsay, David Kolodynski.
