Sports are the visitors to Butlin
Road this afternoon in the FACup 1st
Qualifying Round, meaning Rugby kick-off
their participation in the nation's
favourite sporting competition against
lower level opposition for the third
consecutive year.
Last
season saw Friar Lane & Epworth
dispatched after a replay, and Deeping
Rangers also succumbed at Butlin Road
in 2007, although Glapwell proved
the tricky nature of the underdog
shaming Town with a victory the year
after.
Saturday's
opponents Dudley Sports play in the
West Midlands League - three levels
below Valley - and have reached this
stage of the competition after wins
against Rocester and Southam in the
preliminary qualifying stages.
The
game undoubtedly represents the biggest
ever in Sports thirty year history.
2009 is only the second occasion the
club have entered the competition,
having lost in the Extra Preliminary
Round last time round.
Having
seen his attempts at bolstering the
squad appear to flounder this week,
Dobson is hopeful that he will have
no new injury worries ahead of the
cup tie, although he will have to
do without midfielder Ben Twigger
who left the club this week.
Twigger
arrived in the summer with a good
reputation, but the ex-Bedworth United
captain failed to impress in a central
role in his four competitive starts.
Valley
squad from: Andy Stevens,
Dan Bell; Liam Nicell, Harry Donaghey,
Craig Herbert, Delroy Gordon, Sean
Castleton; Marcel Simpson, Shawn Richards,
Matt Gearing, Allando Davis, David
Staff, Steve Purton, Neil Melvin;
Jason Ramsay, David Kolodynski.
