immediate effect.

Dobson
returned for a second spell in charge
at Butlin Road just over a year ago
with Town in bottom place in the Southern
League Premier Division, and helped
guide the club to safety by the end
of the 2008/09 season.
After
a disappointing start to the new campaign
which has seen just two league points
won in eleven matches to-date, Dobson
feels he is unable to provide the
commitment necessary to turn things
around again and has decided to leave.
He
explained : "I don't feel at
the present time that I can commit
100% to the time needed to do the
job, and I think it is in the club's
best interests to bring in someone
new."
"Of
course I am disappointed the way things
have gone so far this season. We had
a difficult time in the summer, we
lost a number of key players late
in pre-season, and in reality we have
never really recovered from that."
He
continued : "I would like to
stress that there are no issues between
myself and the Board at Rugby. We
have not fallen out and the whole
situation has been very amicable,
but for personal reasons I just think
it's the right time for me to move
on."
Valley
Chairman Brian Melvin reaffirmed this
view of the relationship and also
stressed his disappointment at losing
his manager. He said : "I have
told Tony that I don't want him to
leave, but have reluctantly accepted
his resignation. I had faith in his
ability to get us back up the table,
but I also appreciate his honesty
in doing what he has done at this
point."
"Tony
did a great job last season in testing
circumstances, and we are extremely
grateful for what he achieved then
and also in his first spell at the
club when he took us into the Premier
Division in the first place."
Dobson
rejoined Rugby in September 2008,
having previously been in charge for
four years between 2001 and 2005,
before leaving to take over at Solihull
Borough for one season.
First
team coach Chris Wells is likely to
take temporary charge of the side
for this Saturday's home game with
Evesham, whilst the club starts its
search for Dobson's permanent successor.
