Valley
will face local rivals Atherstone
Town in the FA Cup Preliminary Qualifying
Round at Butlin Road.

Town
have also been dealt an away draw
against fellow Zamaretto Division
One Central outfit Leighton Town in
the FA Trophy.
Rugby
have not played in the Preliminary
Stage of the FA Cup competition for
a few seasons and this first hurdle
is a tricky one against their re-formed
rivals.
For
the first time in five seasons, Rugby
will not have the luxury of facing
lower league opposition in their opening
FA Cup gambit.
The
Adders have long been rivals for Valley
throughout the years but suffered
a setback a few years ago when they
entered financial difficulties and
had to move down several divisions.
However
they will line up next season against
Rugby in the Zamaretto Division One
Central seven years since the last
league meeting between the sides.
Rugby
have made a couple of forays into
the Third Qualifying Rounds in recent
seasons before suffering unfortunate
defeats to Chelmsford City & most
recently Bishop's Stortford in 2008.
Valley
last reached the FA Cup First Round
proper way back in 1993-4 nearly 17
years ago.
Meanwhile
in the FA Trophy, Leighton
Town were the victors five
years ago in the same stage of the
competition with Rory Squire scoring
the only goal for Rugby.
Valley's
Trophy record has been very poor in
recent years with just one win out
of the last seven years.
The
FA Cup game will take place on Saturday
28th August 2010 at Butlin Road while
the FA Trophy game against Leighton
is scheduled for Saturday 2nd October
2010.
