Rugby
have started the league season with
three straight draws but will hope
to get into winning habits to make
progress to the First Qualifying Round.
Five
games stand in the way of Valley and
a place in the First Round Proper
- a place Rugby have not been since
1993.
Valley's
FA Cup record in recent seasons has
seen mixed success with runs to the
3rd Qualifying Round in 2006 &
2008 before unfortunate exits at the
hands of Chelmsford City and Bishop's
Stortford respectively.
Martin
Sockett will be without the services
of centre back Callum Burgess who
has decided to join Blue Square North
side Hinckley United.
Sockett
has been successful in securing the
signatures of two new players - defender
Gary Moran and striker Joe Harris.
Moran
rejoins the club from Redditch five
and a half years after leaving. The
right back made over 100 league appearances
for Valley in his first spell for
the club between 2002 and 2005.
Harris
joins from Hucknall Town. The tall
striker spent last season at Ilkeston
Town after coming through the youth
system at Swansea City.
Atherstone
Town : Like Rugby, the Adders
have made an unbeaten start to the
season with a win and two draws.
Head2Head:
Valley have a long history against
Atherstone including several meetings
in the FA Cup. The last meeting came
in 2007 in the Birmingham Senior Cup
with the Adders winning 1-0.
Team
news: With no Burgess, Martin
will have to select a new partner
for Niki Preston with Chris Charles
expected to deputise.
Moran
and Harris will both be available
for selection while Chad Sheppard
and Dave Timmins will both still be
unavailable through injury.
Paddy
Connolly will miss Saturday's game
after sustaining a badly cut lip against
Biggleswade. Danny
Edmond should be fit to feature after
missing last Saturday through illness.
Valley
squad from: Dave Clarke;
Nick Heath, Danny Hall, Chris Charles,
Niki Preston, Gary Moran, Chris Sockett;
Craig Civzelis, Ben Steane, Lee Thomas,
Richard Wesley, Kieran Fitzharris;
Danny Edmond, Seb Hamilton, Warwick
Alexander, Joe Harris.
