with a good run-out against Midland
Combination outfit Nuneaton Griff.
Goals
in the first half from Richard Wesley
and Seb Hamilton gave Valley a 2-1
half time lead before Lee Thomas netted
in the second half to secure a 3-2
win.
New
Valley boss Dave Stringer used the
game to field a familiar-looking XI
in the first half and a mixed team
of trialists and regulars in the second.
Rugby's starting eleven included nine
from last season's squad with only
Dave Clarke and Danny Hall unavailable.
Triliast
goalkeeper Pete Smith who was a player
of the season with Northampton Spencer
last season was between the sticks
behind Gary Moran, Niki Preston, Melvin
Gourlay and former Bedworth defender
Dominic Reece.
Claudiu
Hoban, Wesley, Andy Gundelach and
Ben Steane formed the midfield with
Hamilton and Tyrone Fagan in attack.
There
were second half apperarances for
Paddy Connolly and Craig Goodbody
while former players Craig Civzelis
and Steve Evans were also given a
run out among other trialists.
Wesley
fired in a volley from the edge of
the area to equalise after an early
Griff goal before Hamilton slotted
home to put Valley in front in the
first half.
Thomas
squirmed a shot into the net from
the edge of the area to seal the game
after Nuneaton had equalised with
a looping header.
