A
Rugby Town Reserve team will return
to action this season and feature
in the Athium Midland Combination
Reserve League Division One.
The
reserve team will be ran through the
new Strachan Football Foundation scheme
who will be based at Butlin Road with
their apprenticeship scheme from September
2011.
Games
will be played at Butlin Road and
Rugby Town Reserves will come up against
the likes of Barwell, Chasetown, Coalville,
Gresley, Quorn, Banbury and Stratford's
reserve teams.
The
Rugby Town Reserves got their first
action on Saturday when they faced
the first team in a friendly on the
astroturf.
Promising
youngsters from the youth team, SFF
apprentices, fringe first team players
and trialists will have the chance
of playing for the reserves with the
hope of progressing into the first
team.
In
the past, the reserve team has provided
valuable experience for players coming
through the youth team and for trialists
alike to prove their worth and players
such as Justin Marsden, Jon Douglas,
Rory Squire and Akin Aladetoun all
featured for the reserves before moving
onto first team action with Valley.
