Rugby
Town Supporter's Club once more presented
a donation of £3,000 to the
Vice President's through their Sunday
morning Car Boot.

The
Rugby Town Supporter's Club Car Boot
has been running for the past six
years and has been a very successful
venture ran entirely by volunteers
Digby and Jean Berry, Mick Bird and
Tom Crinigan.
The
cheque was presented at half time
of Rugby's
1-0 win over Chertsey on Saturday.
The
event which is held 28 times per year
takes place in the car park on Sunday
mornings from 0700 - 1200.
This
year the Valley Volunteers have raised
another £3,000 for the Vice
Presidents which will be used for
an array of services essential to
the running of the club.
Digby
Berry used to play for the club in
the late 50’s and is credited
with scoring an incredible 6 goals
in one game against AEI Apprentices.
Digby
is a retired postman and is a popular
character around the ground. He also
calls the bingo on a Friday night
in the VS Bar. Jean, his wife, is
a retired careworker and sells the
teas and rolls from the club outlet
on Car Boot days. Jean is a daughter
of Charlie and Ethel Dandridge who
were both keen supporters in the clubs
heyday and the family regulary attended
the function nights that occured at
the time.
Mick
Bird is a dedicated hard working supporter
who is assisting with the car boot
this year. He runs the club’s
prediction league and last season
he, his wife, and Martin Defferd raised
over £600 for a sponsored walk
around pitch perimeter.
The
cheque was presented prior to the
Leamington game in front of the main
stand. The efforts of these hard working
supporters is very much appreciated.
