Rugby
got off to a winning start to the
league campaign for the first time
in eight years with a
1-0 win over Chertsey at Butlin
Road on Saturday and Valley boss Dave
Stringer will be hoping to make it
two out of two.
Leighton
finished just one place behind Rugby
in seventh last season and with both
sides looking to go one better and
secure a play-off place, Valley's
first away trip should be a tasty
encounter.
The
Reds enjoyed an opening day win themselves
with a last-minute goal sealing victory
away to AFC Hayes on Saturday.
The
game is a repeat of the dead rubber
final game of last season when Leighton
ran out 4-1 winners at Lake Street,
although all three encounters were
tough games.
Rugby
did, however, seal a 1-0 win over
the Reds in the FA Trophy last season
away from home.
Stringer
will be hoping to call on the services
of new goalkeeper Pete Smith who should
be recovered from a shoulder injury
although Saturday's new keeper Louis
Connor had an excellent debut, saving
a late penalty.
Rugby
will still be without left back Danny
Hall (holiday) and midfielder Paddy
Connolly (knee).
Valley
Squad from: Louis Connor,
Pete Smith; Gary Moran, Dominic Reece,
Nick Preston, Melvin Gourlay, Jamel
Wilson; Ben Steane, Richard Wesley,
Andy Gundelach, JJ Cole, Adam Khan,
Lynval Da Costa, Steve Evans; Seb
Hamilton, Lewis Haycock, Tyrone Fagan.
