Valley take a break from league action to start their trail in non-league's premier cup compeition.

Rugby have failed to hit form in the last couple of games including last weekend's disappointing 1-1 draw against Bedfont but Valley boss Dave Stringer will be hoping he can find the right formula to return his side to form.

Last season Rugby recorded impressive wins in the FA Trophy making progress to the 2nd Qualifying Round with a 1-0 win at Leighton and a 3-2 victory at Hemel Hempstead before bowing out in unlucky circumstances at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Sutton Coldfield now ply their trade in the Evo-Stik League Northern First Division South and are riding high in 3rd place.

Rugby have a head to head record against Sutton going back almost forty years and today's meeting will be the 40th between the sides.

Aside from the long-term absentees Paddy Connolly (knee), Danny Hall (knee) and Lewis Haycock (ankle), Valley are only missing defender Jamel Wilson with a hamstring problem.

Stringer could hand a debut to full back Alex Austin, signed this week from Soham Town Rangers.

Meanwhile another new signing, 20-year-old former Tamworth midfielder Seb Lake-Gaskin unfortunately did not sign in time to play in today's game.

Left back Dominic Reece who received two red cards in just eight appearances for the club has been released.

Valley Squad from: Louis Connor; Gary Moran, Alex Austin, Niki Preston, Melvin Gourlay; Robbie Banks, Ben Steane, Richard Wesley, Andy Gundelach, Adam Khan, Lynval Da Costa, Ryan Isherwood, Adam Cayless, Harry Harris; Seb Hamilton, Tyrone Fagan, Luke Keen.
