The new facilities are now available for use following the refurbishment of the old dressing room area, and the work was completed thanks to a grant from The Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) – the largest funders of non-league football in the country.
The suite will be an important extension to the main club VS Bar, and the improvements include the upgrading of the kitchen facilities to allow the club to cater for a broader range of functions, weddings and other formal occasions.
It will also be available for hire as a self-contained unit, allowing groups and businesses to use the room for wide ranging purposes throughout both the day and evening.
Following the opening ceremony which was attended by over a hundred VIP guests, sponsors and club officials, Town Director Mike Yeats said: “I’d like to express my thanks to the FSIF for their support in this project.
“The refurbishment of the old dressing rooms provides us with a multitude of new opportunities to generate additional revenue streams and helps contribute to continued financial sustainability of the club.
“We hope that this can help us achieve progress to the next tier of the non-league football pyramid, and also that many groups within the local community can benefit from the new facility.”
The opening ceremony was sponsored by O2 Rugby – Junction One and featured a guest speaking slot from ex-professional referee Brian Hill, who once officiated at the 1988 FA Cup Final.
Joint guest of honour Mark Pawsey, MP reflected: “It was a privilege to attend the opening ceremony for the new hospitality suite at Rugby Town FC.
I’ve seen just how hard members of the club have worked to make the project a reality and this excellent new facility will have a tremendous benefit for both the club and local community in coming years.”
The facility and the ability to provide formal catering will also of course allow the club to offer an improved match day hospitality package, and the club plans to secure sponsorship, where possible, for every home fixture during the football season.
