Rugby have been drawn away to NPL Premier side Ilkeston in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round.
Valley overcame Coventry Sphinx 1-0 in the Preliminary Round to set up a side with The Robins who are currently lying in fourth place in the step above Rugby in the non-league pyramid.

Rugby striker Jason Taylor scored twice in a 3-1 win over Ilkeston in the last meeting between the sides in September 2006, in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round |

Ilkeston reformed as a new club in 2011 after its predecessor club Ilkeston Town went into liquidation.
Since then The Robins have regained promotion to the Premier Division and narrowly missed out on promotion to the National League North Division after finishing in the play-offs.
They are managed by Gavin Strachan and have in their ranks 39-year-old ex-WBA and Coventry City striker Lee Hughes.
The last meeting between the sides came nine years ago in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round when Jason Taylor scored twice in a 3-1 win.
Valley
have a unique playing record against Ilkeston
in the twelve meetings between the sides.
Both
Rugby's biggest win & heaviest defeat
have come against the Robins - albeit 12
years apart. A 10-0 win in the Trophy in
1985 was more than avenged in 1998 when
Ilkeston won 1-11 and then also handed out
a 0-7 drubbing at Butlin Road four days later.
Last
season, Rugby reached the Second Qualifying Round after victories against Westfields and Chasetown before losing out for a second year in a row to National League North side Worcester City at Kidderminster's Aggborough Stadium.
In the last ten years, Valley have reached the Third Qualifying Round three occasions before suffering
defeats to Chelmsford
City in 2006, Bishop's
Stortford in 2008 and Worcester City in 2013.
Valley
last reached the FA Cup First Round
proper back in 1993-4 nearly 18 years
ago while Rugby's best FA Cup record
came in 1987-88 and 1992-93 when they
reached the Second Round Proper.
The tie at Ilkeston will be played at the New Manor Ground, Ilkeston on Saturday 12th September 2015. |
