Valley played out an entertaining friendly on Quorn's immacculate Farley Way Stadium surface in their second pre-season game.
Rugby raced into a three goal lead inside half an hour but as with the game at Cogenhoe the raft of second half changes made things far more disjointed for Valley and the hosts came back into the game well.
With Andy Gooding, David Kolodynski and Tom Ryan all unavailable there was a first appearance of pre-season for Jonathon Thorpe.
Aron Wint scored the first of two first half penalties within minutes of kick-off after the lively Robbie Parsons was felled in the area after he had ran onto Jason Lee's long pass.
Wint then picked himself up after being tripped in the box to slot home his second spotkick moments later.
Sam Belcher saw a shot from the edge of the area well saved before he attended to the rebound to send over a cross for Thorpe to head past the keeper.
Quorn got a goal back before the break with a header at the far post after a deep cross from the right before Rugby restored the three goal advantage early in the second half when Richard Lavery met Nathan Fox's inswinging corner to head home.
Valley were the makers of their own downfall in the remainder of the second half and a defensive mix-up allowed the Quorn striker to have a clear run on goal before rounding sub keeper Monty Parkes to score.
Another poor error led to a Quorn free-kick which was superbly dispatched into the top corner late on.
