Valley put in yet another spirited performance to come from behind to claim all three points in what was a must win game for both sides.
A goal from David Kolodynski and a brace from Levi Rowley was enough to overturn the deficit against the motivated ten man Northwich.
The scene was set, a warm evening in April as both teams lined up with a massive three points up for grabs.
Valley lined up with a slightly modified team with Toby Fura & Anthony Charles making way for Tevin Shakespeare & Blaize Punter.
After a bit of a cagey start the deadlock was nearly broken in the tenth minute when the Northwich keeper Dylan Forth gathered a loose ball then was subsequently beaten by his own attempted quick goal kick which struck the retreating David Kolodynski and trickled in.
This bizarre goal was even more bizarrely disallowed by the referee who made his first but not last controversial decision of the day.
Only three minutes later the home side took the lead when the Rugby defence only managed to clear a long throw in as far as Jack Kelleher on the edge of the box who chested it down and emiphatically smashed home.
After taking the early advantage Northwich were reduced to ten men when Valley winger Robbie Parsons was adjudged to have been stamped on and the offender Andrew Fitzgerald was accordingly given his marching orders.
Valley were back on level pegging only five minutes after falling behind when Levi Rowley fired past the hapless keeper from the penalty spot after Tevin Shakespeare was bundled over in the box.
The remainder of the first half was relatively quiet after the action packed first twenty with the best chance coming falling for Quinn from an indirect freekick moments before half but the shot failed to meander through the mass of bodies in the box.
After the break and what looked like a change of system for the visiting team with Levi Rowley joining David Kolodynski up front in what looked more like a traditional 4-4-2 formation.
The change in system seemed to pay dividends as Valley took the lead from in the 62nd minute when Mason Rowley headed a Punter freekick into the path of Kolodynski who put the finish on a nicely worked routine with a well timed volley.
Levi Rowley notched his second of the day with a spectacular curling effort from a 25 yard freekick which left the outstrecthed Forth with no chance.
The home team did rally and test the resolute Rugby defence for the final ten minutes of the game pumping numerous balls into the box but failing to get anybody on the end of it.
