Rugby have been drawn away to new divisional and local rivals Coventry United in the Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup.
It is the first time ever that Rugby have played in the Extra Preliminary Round and it will be the first competitive game of the new season.
Coventry United were only founded in 2013 as a reaction to Coventry City moving out of the Ricoh Stadium and have since won three promotions and last season finished 8th in the Midland Football League Premier Division - which Rugby have just been relegated into.

Untied's squad includes a number of ex-Valley players including Kevin Thornton, Mitchell Piggon, Josh O'Grady and Richard Morris.
Last

Valley have reached the Third Qualifying Round four occasions in the last 10 years before suffering
defeats to Chelmsford
City in 2006, Bishop's
Stortford in 2008 and Worcester City in 2013.
Valley
last reached the FA Cup First Round
proper back in 1993-4 nearly 18 years
ago while Rugby's best FA Cup record
came in 1987-88 and 1992-93 when they
reached the Second Round Proper.
This year's Extra Preliminary Round tie will be played at The Butts Park Arena on Saturday 5th August 2017.
The winners of the tie will host Romulus on Saturday 19th August 2017 in the Preliminary Round.
FA Vase
Rugby have been drawn away to West Midlands (Regional) League Premier side Bewdley Town in the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Vase.
This season will be the first since the 1984/85 campaign that Rugby have competed in the FA Vase.
Since then, due to playing in the Southern or Northern Premier League, Rugby have competed in the FA Trophy but relegation means a first chance in the competition for over 30 years.
Valley famously won the FA Vase in 1983 beating Halesowen Town 1-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium.
Rugby's last game in the competition was in a Third Round Third Replay away to Sudbury Town in 1984.
The FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round will be played at Worcestershire-based Bewdley's Ribbesford Meadows on Saturday 9th September 2017.
The winner will play away to Malvern Town or Smethwick in the 2nd Qualifying Round on 23rd September.
FA Youth Cup
Rugby's Under 18s team will travel to Malvern Town in the FA Youth Cup Qualifying Round to be played week commencing 4th September 2017. |
