Rugby's final 3G astro warm-up game at Butlin Road ended in a 1-1 draw with NPL side Romulus.
Valley manager Dave Stringer used his last 3G astro warm-up game to play a mixed starting line-up before the final two pre-season friendlies against Banbury United and Nuneaton Town at Butlin Road.
There was a first appearance of pre-season for Trey Brathwaite who had been out with a hamstring injury while there were starts for trialist midfielder Ben Ashby and defender Sean Castleton.
The visitors, who were Valley's rivals last season in the Northern Premier League First Division South, took the lead in the first half with a bizarre own goal when Kyle Rowley inadvertently lobbed the ball over his Niall Cooper.
David Kolodynski levelled up for Rugby in the second half with a fine effort from outside the area.
Valley Starting Line-Up: Cooper; Print, Kelly, Castleton, K Rowley; Ashby, Ruff, Dance; Brathwaite, Holt, Kolodynski. |
