The weather was sodden and so was rugbys start to the game. Redditch took a very early lead from a tight angle in an otherwise quiet opening. The game then settled down with few chances from either side.
Late in the first half Ibrahim kouyate, forced the keeper into a smart save with Jake Whelan again forcing another save and hitting the post.
Rugby came out after the break with renewed intensity and tried to force an equaliser. This spell of pressure culminated in the Redditch keeper making two good saves, one of which struck the post.
The 78th minute marked a mistake in the valley penalty area by Lewis Hudson which allowed Redditch to double their lead and after this the game was gone.
Valley youth need to start converting chances into goals, having struck the woodwork regularly many times this season and missed a penalty. If we can start capitalising on these chances then we can salvage the rest of the season.
