Charlie Evans scored a late brace to earn Rugby Town three points at Holbeach United after a hard-working display.
In their final long away trip of the season, Rugby looked solid throughout and probably just about shaded what was a tight game played on a difficult pitch in windy conditions but it was Evans' two late goals that won the points.
Both goals were extremely direct in their nature with the first one coming as a direct result of goalkeeper Matt Hill's long ball as Evans sprinted clear to stab the over the onrushing goalkeeper from the edge of the area.
If Holbeach were disappointed with the nature of the first goal then they would have been distraught with the calamitous second.
This time substitute Josh Steele pumped a long punt forwards which was this time completely misjudged by the Holbeach goalkeeper outside of his area allowing Evans his easiest goal of the season to walk the ball into the empty net.
Full report to follow.
