Valley Win First Adams Pre-Season Outing
New Rugby Town manager Carl Adams' first game in charge ended with a 3-0 victory at Heather St John's in a pre-season friendly.
It was very much a new-look squad for Valley who, after a scrappy first half, netted three times to secure a comfortable win in the searing Leicestershire heat against their MFL Division One opponents.
From last season's squad only Harry Holloway and Sam Lockley remained with both coming off the bench and the former netting a neat finish and the latter playing his first game since suffering a broken leg in March.
Meanwhile there were a number of familiar faces on show for Rugby including Richard Blythe, Justin Marsden, Charlie Faulkner and Lewis Rankin who also netted.
Trialist Bora Manel Barry scored after coming on a substitute to complete the scoring.
There were first starts for new signings Luke Edwards and Simeone Tulloch while Aiden Print and Richard Bunting missed out through injury.
Other new signings Loyiso Recci, Lee Thomas and Matt Hill were all unavailable due to holiday.
Other new faces included defenders Dominic Perkins, Daniel Cavanagh and Keenah Rosser as well as striker Danico Johnson.
Striker Johnson lists Birmingham Metropolitan College, Romulus, Coleshill, Hednesford, Redditch among his former clubs.
Centre back Perkins is a former Birmingham City youth graduate who has had spells with Boldmere, Redditch, Bedworth and Romulus while full-back Cavanagh has spent the last couple of seasons with Bedworth.
24-year-old right back Rosser made four appearances for Rugby in 2015 under Gary Mills and has since had spells with Solihull, Redditch and Boldmere St Michaels. |
