Lifelong Supporter Jim Dand Passes Away
Rugby Town are saddened to learn of the passing of their oldest and longest-serving supporter Jim Dand who died recently aged 94.
Jim followed local football all his life and over the past seven decades he rarely missed a Valley game home or away, travelling to thousands of games throughout the country.
He also help set up a Supporters’ Club in the 1970’s and completed several walks and fund raising activities to help the club.
Both in 2011 and 2017 (when in his late 80’s) he won the “Clubman of the Year” recognising Jim’s volunteering and fund-raising for the club.
Even in his late 80’s he would walk alone two miles from his home to the ground to either watch a home game or even jump on the supporters’ coach for the away games.
There was a minute's applause observed before Rugby's 1-0 win over Coventry United at Butlin Road. |
