Valley put in a confident performance to seal a comfortable friendly win at newly-promoted Gresley Rovers.
Rovers put out two different teams in each half but it still does not take away from an excellent display from Carl Adams' men who were solid in defence and slick in attack.
Trialist left back Hayden Seymour made a first start after a promising pre-season so far while captain Loyiso Recci returned after holiday with Carl Adams bringing Alex Lock, Matt Hill, Justin Marsden and Liam Francis into the starting XI.
There was also an appearance from the bench in the second half for trialist winger Kaylum Mitchell (ex-Carlton, Eastwood, Gresley).
After a tight first half which Rugby edged all the goals came in the second half with MJ Semahimbo opening the scoring shortly after the re-start, beating a couple of defenders outside the area before his deflected shot wrong-footed the goalkeeper and found the corner.
Gresley equalised soon after as Kieran Wells turned in a low cross before David Kolodynski put Rugby back in front smashing in a rebound from 12 yards after Semahimbo's shot was parried.
Ryan Seal got in on the act against his former team when he played a one-two with Kolodynski from a free-kick before slotting into the net and Kolodynski was the provider again moments later when he teed up Caine Elliott who found the net with a smart finish.
Seal grabbed a second for himself with a fantastic curling effort from just outside the area which gave the goalkeeper no chance.
