League Line-Up 22/23
The FA have provisionally released the line-up for a reshuffled 18-team United Counties League Premier Division South next season.
With Harborough Town and Hinckley Leicester Road earning promotion and Northampton ON Chenecks dropping out at the end of the season along with mid-season resignees Peterborough Northern Star, Rugby will welcome three new teams with Histon relegated from the NPL and March Town United and Milton Keynes Irish both being transferred in.
Rugby last met with Cambridge-based Histon back in 2005 in the Southern League Premier Division and after progressing to spend four years in the Conference National League peaking with a third place finish in 2009 they have found themselves back at Step Five after being relegated from the NPL Midland Division last season.
March Town United, also from Cambridgeshire, won promotion to Step Five in 2021 for the first time in nearly 20 years and are being transferred to the United Counties League for the first time since 1954.
Milton Keynes Irish came into existence in 2020 following a merger of Milton Keynes Robins (formerly Buckingham Town) and Unite MK. They have been moved from the South Midlands League.
Meanwhile both Biggleswade United and Potton United have both transferred back to the Spartan South Midlands League.
