24/25 Squad Update
Rugby Town manager Carl Adams has had a busy first five weeks of the close season as he looks to build his squad for the new NPL Midlands campaign.
A number of last season's squad have committed their futures to the club while the Club have also welcomed a new joint assistant manager Gary Drake who has joined Carl's backroom staff from Shepshed Dynamo.
Defender Liam Francis will continue in his player/assistant role after surpassing 150 appearances for the club last season.
The club's all-time appearance and goals record holder David Kolodynski has signed a new contract while new deals have also been agreed with fellow home-grown talents 19-year-old midfielder Ryan Sahota, 21-year-old defender Josh Thomas and 22-year-old winger MJ Semahimbo.
Influential 34-year-old midfielder Chris Clements has also signed a contract to stay at Butlin Road until May 2025.
The club have also retained the services of captain Barry Fitzharris, full-back Dan Summerfield and defender Keenah Rosser - who missed the majority of last season with a broken arm - after exercising extensions in their contracts.
Leaving the club are defender Loyiso Recci, midfielder Roger Lee and forward Jordan Wilson following the expiration of their contracts.
Former captain Recci leaves after making 191 appearances for Rugby, scoring 22 goals including four crucial penalties in the last four games last season to help the club preserve its NPL Midlands status. Loyiso joined the club in 2018 with manager Carl Adams from Stratford Town.
Wilson joined the club in October 2022 and finished as the joint top scorer with 20 goals in as many starts as the club won promotion from the UCL Premier Division South.
Injury stunted Jordan last season although he still contributed some key goals and probably most memorably went between the sticks in the 1-1 draw at Corby with nine men.
Bermudian international Lee returned to the club last summer and made 19 appearances for the club scoring two goals.
Negotiations are continuing with the remainder of last season's squad along with potential new signings.
The Club would like the thank those players moving on for their contributions. |
