Rugby Town FC Academy Relaunches
Rugby Town Football Club is delighted to announce the relaunch of the Rugby Town Academy of Football at Butlin Road.
The Academy will once again be run in partnership with Morthyng Group Ltd from the 2025/26 season, and for the first time including both male and female teams.
The full-time Football & Education BTEC Scholarship programme provides 16 to 19-year-olds with the opportunity to continue their studies while training and playing in a professional footballing environment.
The academy, previously partnered with Morthyng for four years between 2018 and 2022, has a strong track record of success.
In 2021, Rugby Town Academy reached the FA Youth Cup Third Round Proper, defeating the likes of Solihull Moors and Morecambe before falling to Cheltenham Town at Butlin Road.
The programme has also helped develop players who have progressed into the Rugby Town first team, including Caine Elliott, MJ Semahimbo, Josh Steele, and Jamal Adams, while also helping to launch the careers of recent Shrewsbury Town signing Cally Stewart.
Rugby Town FC Director Neil Melvin said: "We are thrilled to relaunch the academy at Butlin Road.
"This programme has already proven to be a fantastic pathway for young footballers in Rugby and beyond, and we’re confident it will continue to provide opportunities for players to develop their education and football careers.
"Of course it also means the return of youth football at Butlin Road which is great news."
Morthyng Group Ltd Chief Executive Moira MacCormac added: "We are extremely pleased to be working with Rugby Town again to deliver this football academy programme.
"Butlin Road is a fantastic setting, and we are excited to support the next generation of young footballers both on and off the pitch."
The Rugby Town Academy will begin accepting applications immediately, with the programme commencing in August 2025. For more information, visit https://www.morthyng.co.uk/apply-now/. |
