Rivel Retained
Forward Rivel Mardenborough has agreed to remain at Butlin Road for the 2026/27 season.
The 25-year-old was one of Valley's standout performers during the 2025/26 campaign, finishing as the club’s top scorer following his arrival from Redditch United last summer.
Rivel was one of only four players who totted up more than 40 appearances last campaign for Valley.
A former Wales Under-16 international, Mardenborough came through the academy systems at Swansea City and Newport County before spending the majority of the previous three seasons with Darlaston Town, alongside a brief spell at Hednesford Town.
Manager Grant Joshua was pleased to secure the forward’s commitment for next season. "I’m pleased Rivel has agreed to extend his stay with the club.
"He’s one of maybe two or three that had a good season last year, so when he expressed his desire to stay it was a pretty straightforward conversation to have and deal to do.
"He’s still young and he’s got parts of his game to work on, but he’s a big problem for anybody he comes up against.
"Riv’s a fans’ favourite and he’s a pleasure to work with. I have a great relationship with him and I’ve no doubt his goals and performances will be standout again, in what we hope will be a successful season.”
Mardenborough becomes the first player to commit to the club for the upcoming campaign as preparations continue ahead of the new season. |
