Nee Pens New Deal
Versatile forward Harrison Nee has agreed a new contract to stay at the club until May 2027.
The 22-year-old is now Valley's longest serving player having joined in February 2024 and the club are very pleased to have retained him.
After coming through the youth ranks at Coventry City, Harrison had spells with Peterborough Sports and Barwell before joining Rugby.
Harrison has now clocked up 72 appearances for Rugby and scored eight goals.
After an impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign, Nee signed his first contract with the club before an injury-disrupted season last term saw him sidelined for almost four months.
His absence coincided with a difficult period for the team after a strong opening to the campaign.
Manager Grant Joshua believes securing Nee’s commitment is an important piece of business heading into the new season: "I’m chuffed that Harrison has penned a new deal with us.
"I believe this shows his faith and trust in what’s being built here this season and for the future.
“Let’s not get away from the fact that this lad, on his day, is unplayable and a menace for defenders. His injury hampered us last season and when we were at our best in those early months, H was at the forefront of that alongside Rivel.
"His understanding of what is asked of him is a huge strength I see in him.”
Joshua also challenged the forward to push his game to another level this season: "It’s an important season for him and he needs to use this year as a catalyst and concentrate on his numbers and output because that’s what the best attacking players do.
"He's certainly got the ability to become that player who gets 25-plus each season.
"Harrison needs to become obsessed with scoring goals if he’s to reach his potential.
"He’s going to combine with Rivel [Mardenborough], Aaron [Nuttall] and Louis [Samuels] in our attacking areas and we’re excited about that." |
