Ashmore Joins Valley

Rugby Town are pleased to welcome experienced defender Jamie Ashmore.

30-year-old Ashmore joins with plenty of experience and a strong record of success including a Step 5 promotion with Lye Town under current boss Grant Joshua in 2023.

Jamie was also part of the squad that won promotion from the UCL Premier South in 2024 with Racing Club Warwick.

Ashmore’s career has included spells with clubs such as Halesowen Town, Redditch United, Alvechurch, Barwell, Bedworth United and Highgate United, with extensive experience at Step 3 level alongside multiple successful promotion campaigns lower down the pyramid.

Most recently Jamie was part of the Northfield Town that won the MFL Division Town side last season.

Manager Grant Joshua believes Ashmore’s mentality and leadership qualities will be a major asset to the squad this season: "I’m pleased Jamie will be joining myself and the football club on another promotion push.

"Jamie played for me and the staff when we went up to Step 4 with Lye.

"He's a true leader with multiple promotions on his CV and I’m expecting Jamie to come in and be demanding of himself and the squad."

Joshua also highlighted the defender’s versatility and ability on the ball. "Another one who can operate in two or three positions which will be vital for us.

"His qualities on the ball for me are a big selling point. We will have to have multiple strings to our bow in this league depending on whether we are home or away and different types of opposition."

The Town boss believes Ashmore’s experience and mentality will be key during the season ahead: "I know without even talking to him that he will do what'’s necessary on any given day and do the dirty side as well as the pretty side of it.

"We both know how each other work, both have huge respect for one another and it’s another natural winner added to the squad."
