Wormleighton Adds To Backline

Centre back Jake Wormleighton is the latest new face to join Valley manager Grant Joshua's new-look squad.

The 25-year-old centre-back arrives at Butlin Road following a long association with Aylestone Park, where he established himself as a key figure after progressing through the club’s youth ranks.

Aside from a spell with Hinckley Leicester Road in the NPL Midlands during the 2024/25 campaign, Wormleighton has spent the majority of his senior career with Aylestone Park and was a key part of the side that reached the play-offs last season in the UCL Premier South.

Manager Grant Joshua was delighted to secure the defender’s signature, describing him as a major target for the summer: "I’m really happy to have secured Jake for this upcoming season.

"He was an essential target of mine as he has attributes in him that we either lack or don’t have."

Joshua believes Wormleighton's physical presence and defensive qualities will be crucial to the squad: "He’s been in that successful Leicester Road side with Aaron Nuttall and he’s been in Aylestone Park sides that have had a lot of success in recent seasons.

"Brilliant in both boxes, aggressive with and without the ball and he’ll be one that goes under the radar but will be paramount to how our season pans out, I believe."
