FA Vase First Round Draw

Rugby Town have been drawn at home to Hellenic League Premier side Tuffley Rovers in the FA Vase First Round Proper.

Valley won through to thanks to a 3-2 win over NWCFL Division One South side Shawbury United on Saturday while Tuffley won 5-1 against Welton Rovers.

The Gloucester-based side have started the season with four wins, three defeats and one draw in their 12th successive season at Step 5.

This season is Valley's first competiting in the FA Vase since 2022/23 after competiting in the FA Trophy for three seasons while playing in the NPL Midlands.

The FA Vase is a national competition featuring teams from the Rugby's current level at Step 5 down to Step 6 with the final played at Wembley Stadium.

In the last Vase campaign four years ago, Valley exited at the first hurdle against AFC Wulfrunians in the Second Round Proper despite winning six ties in the previous season before being defeated by North Shields in the Fifth Round Proper.

Valley famously won the FA Vase in 1983 with a 1-0 win over Halesowen Town at the old Wembley Stadium.

The match against Tuffley will be played at Butlin Road on Saturday 10th October 2026 with the game to be determined by a penalty shootout with no extra time and no replay.
