Versatile Chuffy Joins Valley

Rugby Town are pleased to confirm the signing of versatile 25-year-old Tom Iaciofano from United Counties League Premier Division South rivals Daventry Town.

Able to operate at full-back or further forward in attacking areas, Iaciofano brings both versatility and a proven track record at this level to manager Grant Joshua's squad.

'Chuffy' enjoyed a particularly impressive 2023/24 campaign with Wellingborough Town, scoring 16 goals as the Doughboys earned promotion from the UCL Premier South, before going on to feature for the club in the NPL Midlands the following season.

Iaciofano joined Daventry Town ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and made a major impression there, collecting three Player of the Season awards.

He began his senior career with Cogenhoe United before spending two years with Loughborough Students, later joining Wellingborough in 2022.

Town boss Joshua is delighted to have finally brought in a player who had been on the club’s radar since the summer.

"I’m really pleased that we’ve managed to bring Tom into the football club this week and add another option to the group.

"We've been very careful with who we bring in this season and Tom ticks a lot of boxes for both myself and the club."

Iaciofano arrives following the departure of Louis Samuels to Lutterworth Town, with Joshua explaining that the timing was now right to revisit a move which had first been discussed during pre-season.

"Tom is a direct replacement for Louis, who left for Lutterworth this week. We wish Lou all the very best – he’s a top lad and someone I had an excellent relationship with but he wanted something different and we need players here who are fully committed to what we're trying to build.

"Tom has already shown me what he stands for and has shown a real appetite to join the club.

"We were in contact during pre-season and the move didn't materialise then but we're now in a position where we need to strengthen the squad and the opportunity made sense for everyone."

Joshua believes Iaciofano’s athleticism, work-rate and technical quality will make him a natural fit for the way Town want to play:

"Tom has attributes that are really important to what we’re building. He can get up and down the pitch, he presses very well and he’s a fit, athletic player who should suit us down to the ground.

"Chuffy is technically very good and will also give us a genuine goal threat.

"He’s got plenty of quality but he knows he has to work hard for the team and that is absolutely paramount in any successful side."

Iaciofano joins the Valley squad in time to feature at Yaxley in the UCL Premier South.
