James was appointed as the club's first team manager in May 2016, replacing the outgoing Dale Belford.

The then 34-year-old midfielder took on on his first managerial appointment after a long non-league career.

Jepson resigned his position in September 2016 after just five league games in charge.

James did have a short spell as a player with Rugby when he signed from league rivals at the time Kettering Town in July 2014 but after featuring 13 times for Valley he returned to the Poppies where he won the league championship.

Jepson featured for a host of non-league clubs including Gresley, Hucknall, King's Lynn and Rushden & Diamonds after starting his career as a youth player with Notts County.
