Dave
was re-appointed as first team manager in May 2017 after a two-year absence.
Stringer's first spell at Butlin Road from 2011-2015 saw two runners-up finishes in the Southern League Division One Central before he left the club spending two seasons with Chasetown in the NPL First Division South.
The second spell came after Valley were relegated to the Midland Football League Premier Division in 2017 and Dave led the team to a sixth place finish before the club parted company at the end of the season.
Stringer was first appointed the first team manager in May 2011 after originally joining
Martin Sockett's
managerial team
in May 2010 as assistant
manager and was
an integral part
in leading the team
to sixth in the Southern League
Central Division.
Dave led the side to another 6th place finish in his first full season in charge in the 2011/2 season after Martin Sockett's departure before a record-breaking points haul in the 2012/3 season saw the side just miss out on automatic promotion - eventually losing in a Play-Off Final against Biggleswade at Butlin Road.
Another superb campaign in the 2013/4 season saw Rugby again challenge for the title before losing out on the final day to Champions Dunstable Town and there was play-off heartbreak at Butlin Road as 5th-placed Slough Town defeated Valley in the Semi Final.
The 2014/5 season saw a drop in level from the title challenging form from the previous two seasons and Rugby eventually failed to reach the play-offs.
In May 2015 the club & board mutually agreed to part company.
