It was
such a shame that two Rugby Town sides had to meet in the last eight
of the cup.
Rugby Town Boys
started the brighter of the two sides and it was Ryan Illingworth-Joyce
who fired the Boys into the lead.
The juniors
equalised soon after but on the stroke of HT Jamie Whiteside delivered
a curling free kick in which Matty Garrett headed home. It was just
what the Boys had deserved as they had dominated most of the first
half. In the second half the Boys battled well but could not stop
the juniors equalising. Two goals soon followed from corners to
trail 4-2. The Boys weren’t finished as Nick O’Connor tucked away
a goal from a corner to set up a dramatic finish. But 4-3 it finished.
This was one
of the best performances I have witnessed from the Boys and they
came out of this game with a lot of Credit as they ran there counterparts
every step of the way. As your manager I am so proud of each and
every squad member you certainly showed me that you have the will
to win and on your day you are a match for any side. Good Luck to
the juniors on progressing into the semis.
