Leicester
Nirvana 5-1 Rugby Town |
12th November 2006 |
A
well taken goal by James Burton gave the Eagles an early lead against
the run of play, however Leicester Nirvana's better organisation
and passing started to tell and only some determined defensive work
by all the team, in particular Daniel Newton and an under the weather
Jay Finlay kept the half time score to 2-1 to Leicester.
Further excellent team play by Leicester saw them increase their
lead to 5-1. Although we had some chances in the second half we
were unable to capitalise.
Thanks to the parents who continued to encourage the team despite
the score line!
Although we eventually went down 5-1 to a superb performance by
Leicester Nirvana, it was very pleasing to see that the team never
let their heads drop and continued to battle to the last whistle.
The main difference between the two teams being the excellent passing
of the Leicester Nirvana boys and this will need to be worked on
if we are to carry on with the improvement shown in previous weeks.

Rugby
Town Eagles 6-2 Dunton & Broughton |
22nd October 2006 |
Rugby
Town Eagles had the better of early exchanges against a determined
Dunton/Broughton and quickly raced into a 2-0 advantage thanks to
two well taken goals from Ben Hines.
However Dunton/Broughton
didn't let their heads drop and fought back well to finish the first
half level at 2-2.
The second half saw a much improved Rugby dominate proceedings.
A hat-trick by James Burton increased the lead to 5-2 and in the
final seconds a fine solo run by Daniel Newton was rounded off by
an excellent finish to give the final score of 6-2 to Rugby.
It was good to see some fine performances by our substitutes, in
particular Mark Scorer and Ryan Kelly. Mark defending solidly as
well as putting in the occasional forward run and Ryan causing the
opposition defence problems with his constant scurrying.
If we continue to play like we did in the second half then things
should only get better. Well done lads keep it up.

Harborough
Minis 1-3 Rugby Town |
8th October 2006 |
Rugby
Town Eagles U7 improved their record to 2 wins out of 3 with a solid
performance away to a determined Harborough Minis.
With play moving
from end to end, the deadlock was broken with an excellent solo
effort from James Burton. More attacking play from Rugby saw a fine
goal from Ben Smith give the visitors a 2-0 half time lead.
A spirited second
half performance by Harborough saw them reduce the deficit to 2-1,
however solid defending by Thomas Minard and Harry Palmer prevented
any more real opportunities for Harborough and a well taken goal
from Ben Hines sealed a 3-1 win for Rugby. |
Rugby
Town Eagles 3 Lutterworth Cyclones 1 |
24th September 2006 |
A
superb James Barton hat-trick, gave the Eagles their first well
fought win.
The only way
seems to be up for the Eagles at the moment as they seem to be learning
and improving from each match and training sessions. A nice way
to welcome in new player Jay Finlay on his debut - keep it up lads
well done.
