Rugby
were given a very friendly welcome from Birstall.
The Badgers
started brightly with lots of possession. The
goalie Connor Brooks was only troubled once but made a cracker of
a save. The badgers finished the half with a beautiful pass from
Cameron Corbett through to Ben
Conopo ,who then ran up the wing and passed to Daniel Walshe who
scored a good goal.
As usual Connor
Gamble and Midhael Pratt worked hard in midfield and created plenty
of chances in the first half. Early into the second half the Badgers
netted their second and with
Mason Philips, Thomas Parker and James Kelly all concentrating in
defence, the game was going the Badgers way.
But suddenly
due to tired legs the game turned and Birstall netted three goals.
After an entertaining match we had a friendly with Birstall which
both teams enjoyed very much.(which Rugby managed to win!!)
This is what
kids football is all about.

| Badgers
2-3 Thurlaston Magpies |
| 4 March 2007 | Leicester
and District Mutual Football League Div 5 |
Rugby were just piped at the post in this exciting tussle.
Rugby attacked from the off and good early work from the Daniel
Walsh, Connor Gamble and Michael Pratt in midfield led to a flurry
of early chances. Thurlaston responded with some good counter attacks
but were undone when Ben Conopo latched onto a through ball and
sent Rugby into the lead. Stung into action Thurlaston started to
string some good passes together and only the strong defending of
James Kelly and Thomas Parker along with the safe Connor Brooks
in goal kept the magpies at bay.
Early in the second half Magpies caught Rugby napping and, after
scoring goals in quick succession, were soon sitting on a 3-1 lead.
This stung rugby into action and good work from Declan Murray, and
Cameron Corbett started to turn the tide. Mason Philips, working
hard in Midfield, helped the ball onto Daniel Walsh to score the
second for Rugby. Rugby piled on the pressure and were unlucky not
to score in the dying minutes of the game.
A good game enjoyed by all the spectators.

| Badgers
1-2 Wigston United |
| 18 February 2007 | Leicester
and District Mutual Football League Div 5 |

The Badgers
knew this was going to be a tough game against the league leaders.Wigston
started very brightly with most of the possestion until they took
the lead. From then on the Badgers gave 100 percent effort to try
and get themselves back into the game.
Second half
started with Wigston scoring very early on but the Badgers didnt
drop their heads but dug deep and were rewarded with a goal from
Declan Murray. After that the Badgers really put Wigston under presure
with great passing, great runs, great tackling and were unlucky not
to get the ball in the back of the net again.
The Badgers
: Connor Gamble, Connor Brooks, Cameron Corbett, Daniel Walshe,
Ben Conopo, Mason Philips, Thomas Parker, James Kelly and Declan
Murray should be proud of their team performance and you were unlucky
lads not to get the draw as you deserved a point for effort. |
| Badgers
4-0 Epworth Forest |
| 28 January 2007 | Leicester
and District Mutual Football League Div 5 |
The
game started lively with a penalty at both ends, both saved, with
a brilliant save by Connor Gamble.
On the attack
again a superb pass by Cameron Corbett through to Ben Conopo gave
the Badgers the lead.
Daniel Walshe
and Cameron Corbett worked well on the wings and both took good
range shots and were unlucky not to get on the score sheet. In midfield
Connor Brooks threw himself into crunching tackles which aided the
Badgers to score another.
Second half
saw Epworth getting into the game more but the great pairing at
the back , James Kelly and Thomas Parker saw them only have one
shot on goal which was saved well by Connor Brooks. From then on
the Badgers began to really pass the ball with Mason Phillips threading
the ball through for Ben Conopo's hatrick.
Connor Gamble
sealed the victory with a beautiful strike which ended up in the
top right hand corner.Great team performance lads, keep it up. A
big thank you to our kind sponsors ABS
